George Norman Douglas was an American novelist, playwright, screenwriter, journalist, and soldier in the Indian Wars. His books include The Passing of the Great Race (1917), The Beet Fields of Hell (1918), and The Mountain Lion (1922). He enlisted as a private in Company F of the 1st California Infantry Regiment, United States Army on October 19, 1861. He was discharged as a first lieutenant on January 31, 1862.
